Post Season Survey Results

Ten of the league's twelve teams responded to the post season survey. The reults are posted below.

1. The league has held a Live Draft the past two years. Everyone in the league seems to enjoy the live draft, unfortunately when draft day arrives for the 2009 season, it is likely the commissioner will be off attending graduate school in another state. With that being said, how would you like to see the draft conducted in 2009. (In the event that the commissioner is still in Morgantown for the 2009 season, a live draft will be held in Morgantown as in the past two years.)

Live Online Draft - 7
Live Draft (willing to travel) - 2
Auto Draft - 1

2. In 2006 the League voted to move to a keeper league. Please state the player from you current team that you would like to keep on your team for next year. You may NOT keep the same player that you kept last year. (Please note: If your Keeper unexpectedly retires or has a season/career ending injury IN THE OFFSEASON, you will be allowed to chose a different keeper from this year's team.)

3. It has been suggested that keepers should not be declared until the start of the new season. Currently keepers are declared at the end of the season so that other players can formulate their draft strategy. Which of the following time frames would you prefer in declaring your keeper for future years?

End of Season, no later than Pro Bowl - 5
Beginning of next season's preseason - 5

4. What other changes, if any, would you like to see for the 2009 season?

There were several suggestions which I will review and consider for the next season.

5. Would you be interested in participating in other fantasy leagues under this commissioner and with this group of people?

Yes - 8
No - 2

I will invite everyone to join other leagues. If you wish to participate, just sign up when you recieve the invitation. If you do not wish to participate, simply ignore the invitation and you will be removed from the invitation to that league for future years.

Enjoy the offseason. I hope it is a short one.

Trophy options for 2009

As mentioned in a previous post, the design of our current trophy creates a weak stress point where the runner's foot meets the trophy base. Both trophies over the past two years have either cracked or broken at the stress point. I believe the stress point is created by the overall height and weight of the trophy. The trophy stands 11 inches tall and weighs 2 pounds. Although the majority of the weight is in the base, the runner's position of leaning slight forward has weakened the connection to the base. With that being said, I have selected a few replacement trophies for the coming year. The winner will still get to keep the trophy indefinitely. It will still be engraved with a similar title plate. These images are representative only and do not necessarily reflect the actual trophies that I have looked at. A picture of the actual trophy will be posted once it is decided and purchased. Prices listed by the trophy do not include shipping and may or may not include engraving. Our current trophy cost $29.95 plus shipping, plus engraving. The team registration fee will only increase if a more expensive trophy is selected. If a less expensive trophy is selected, we will figure out what to do with the registration fee.

The smaller trophy sits 6.5 inches high (roughly half the size of our current trophy) and costs $44.95. The larger trophy sits 9 inches high and costs $49.95. The trophy is made of crystal.

This trophy is made of Resin (like our current trophy) and costs $39.99. It stands 13 inches tall. Weight was not listed.

The pyramid plaque/trophy stands 8 inches tall. It costs $29.99. We can chose the color of the pyramid plaque - woodgrain (walnut) or marble (black, blue, or red).

This "twin" statue trophy costs $24.99. It is made of resin and depicts a quarterback on facing one direction and a ball carrier facing the other.

A traditional trophy stand between 12 and 14 inches tall. Depending on the design, it will cost between $11.99 and $14.95. I do not know the exact materials, but it is a standard trophy, so most likely a large part of the construction is plastic.

This resin trophy stands 8 inches tall and costs $9.99. Although it is similar to our current trophy, I don't believe we will have an issue with it because both of the runner's lages are attached to the base, it is not as heavy, it is not as tall, and the runner's stance does not add any undue stress.

This crystal trophy stands only 4 1/2 inches tall. Cost is $8.95.

In addition to the certificates awarded for the other league awards, I plan to give out smaller trophies for the the following awards: 2nd Place, Coach of the Year, and the Toilet Bowl award (last place). These awards will most likely be ribboned medalions, plaques, or smaller resin trophies, depending on what I can affordablly
find. I will not increase the team registration fee for these additional awards. I expect that I can find relatively affordable (less than $5.00 each) and therefore will provide these for the league myself. Please take the time to vote on which trophy you would like to have awarded next year. You may vote by simply posting a comment to this blog post. Again, the team registration fee will only be increased if the league selects a more expensive trophy.
