Be Prepared
Excellent draft owners! The draft went very smoothly and lasted 45 minutes. I hope everyone is happy with the team they drafted. Our competition kicks off Thursday, September 9th when the NFL opens its season featuring the Vikings vs. the Saints. Be sure your lineups are set before the game starts, and let's have a great TENTH season!

The League Has Spoken...
...and keepers it is! After a 6-1 majority vote, the league will again pick keepers for the year.
Just to remind you what the league decided in 2008--you may not declare the same keeper two seasons in a row. So whoever you kept last year CANNOT be your keeper choice this year. I will try and post the keepers from last year, with the help of the ex-commish, below. Be sure to check back with this post to make sure your keeper from last year is listed so the league knows who is up for grabs. If your keeper from last year is not listed, please drop me an e-mail or comment on this post. Keeper choices may be changed until Thursday, August 26th at 3:00 PM. Thanks!

To Keep or Not To Keep? That is the Question.
There has been some discussion in recent weeks among some of the team owners about whether or not we decided to have a keeper league in 2010. No consensus was made, so I will put it up for a vote.
Please comment to this post, letting me know if you want to do a keeper league this year or not. I will go on a majority ruling based on your comments.
If we decide to do a keeper league, I will post the rules for keepers as well as provide all team owners with their 2009 team roster.
Please post your comment about keepers to this blog by MONDAY, August 23rd.
I will review the comments and post here as well as e-mail the league with the decision.
If a keeper league is decided for 2010, I will provide each team with their 2009 roster by Wednesday, August 25th. I will ask that you make your keeper pick by Thursday, August 26th so I can set up the draft prior to going into the technology abyss that is my in-laws house.

Draft Date Set!
The tenth season of Caterina's Coaches will officially get underway with a live, online draft on SUNDAY, August 29, 2010 at 7:30 PM. Please be sure that your designated draft organizer is online at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the draft. This is to make sure that your computer is set up correctly and you can draft your players.
You can find the draft order on the right hand side of this page.
It is important that you take time to pre-rank your players before the draft. Even though we will be doing a live draft, last year some team owners had trouble getting into the draft application. If this happens, or if your computer suddenly shuts off due to your four year old pulling the power plug (for example) you will want to know that your draft order has been set.
If you have any questions or concerns prior to the draft, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Training Camps Start Today!
Well coaches, it seems that football season will be here before we know it. Training camps are underway with a few first round draft picks still left to be signed. The Colts might slap the franchise tag on QB Peyton Manning, just to make him the highest paid player in the NFL. And espn.com's power rankings put the Super Bowl champion Saints at #2 just behind the Colts (which should make ex-commish Jim Risk pretty darn happy that his Colts are ranked #1).
Caterina's Coaches X is underway and currently recruiting teams. I believe that all the coaches from last year will be joining up this year. If you haven't signed up yet, do it! If you know or live with someone who hasn't signed up, tell them to do it!
The draft has been TENTATIVELY set for Sunday, August 29th at 7:30 for a live, online draft. Once all the teams have joined I will check in to see if this time works for everyone. This seemed to work the best for the team owners last year and we aren't going to rock the boat, so to speak.
And there seems to be a question of keepers....did we declare them or not? In the jumbled memories of the current and ex commissioners, we did not declare keepers last year. However, that is certainly up for debate. If you remember that we did, let me know.
